2. From my father, via email today
I have to share this with you, because I am not a selfish man, but last night noblesse obliged us to attend a lecture by Sir Eldon Griffiths (Whither the Special Relationship, blah blah), and Sir Eldon is an eminent, ex-cabinet minister, etc etc, and the large audience were Charleston's finest, and in the middle of it, I kid you not, Sir Eldon's trousers fell down.
May the force be with you
Love
Dad

I am glad your father is such a generous and sharing man.
I wonder if there were any television cameras present?
Isn't that a bit much for a man of Sir Griffiths' age??
raaaa. lent or not, raaaa.
Your dad sounds incredibly cool. Unlike Sir Griffith, who must have been AFLAME with embarassment.
Is it on youtube yet?
Ali x
Can I wager he was wearing his knighty whities?
Having never met your father nor read any of his work, I still adore him. And I'm glad his sense of humor has been passed on.
OH WELL DONE, Mr. Cornwell. WELL DONE.
Ha! Now I see where your ability to set up a punchline comes from.
I don't read your esteemed father Mr. Cornwell's works very often, but when I do I really appreciate that they are written by someone with this sense of humour. I chortle.
I'm running off to read one of your father's books RIGHT NOW.
I was hard pressed to guess where that one was going, it seamed to be going one way, but it ended with a real belter of a line. I'm sure your father has trousered the revenue from this post. But i'll rate this a plus four post, a real turn-up. [that's enough trouser jokes -Ed (sorry it was getting a bit pants)]
ROFLOL - thank you so much for posting this!
I live in Charleston, and I'm very sad I didn't get to see this display. I'm glad that your dad is sending news of my city to me through you; I really appreciate the dual effort.
I kind of love you and your dad. That's not weird, right? Amazing.
How dreadfully embarrassing... how does one recover oneself at that moment, I wonder?
